Take a few steps out of the pro shop and you'll be on one of two practice greens. This area of the course, which includes the tee-box for the first hole, is separated from the rest of the course by a natural stream which acts as a habitat for ducks, geese and other animals.A short stroll over one of the two charming bridges which link the course at it's divide takes you to the driving range. The range, partly shaded by willow trees, accomodates thirty golfers and is 340 yards in length. Three five-foot-high mounds delineate the 100-yard marker, the 175-yard marker, and the 240-yard marker. Other yardage markers are clearly displayed as well. The range at Painted Hills was the first lighted driving range in Spokane. During the summer, golfers can practice here until 10 P.M. Just to the south of the driving range lies the second practice green. This green is the better choice for those working on mid-range chip shots and bunker shots.
